We just drove around a bit of Shere exchange and Guildford exchange and found the following on our 30 minute drive:

Total Access Points: 556
Unencrypted: 81 (14.5%)

Channels Used:
ch1 = 173
ch2 = 13
ch3 = 9

ch5 = 3
ch6 = 127
ch7 = 45
ch8 = 8
ch9 = 20
ch10 = 10
ch11 = 138
I forgot to enable UK mode to see channels 12 and 13 :(

Identifiable names:

Belkin: 28 (a high percentage of the unencrypted ones!)

BT Home ADSL: 110 (of which 33 were Wireless-N ones [HomeHub 2.0])
BT Business: 12
BT Voyagers: 8 (old routers with a bug where they fail to reconnect if the line drops)
Linksys: 9
Orange: 16
NetGear: 31
O2: 16
Sky: 37
TalkTalk: 7 (high percentage are unencrypted)
